Richard Ramirez

During his 1985 L.A. murder rampage Ramirez was known as the “Night Stalker.” He would slip into darkened houses and slaughter the sleeping occupants. Usually, he would kill the husband first, and then turn his depraved attentions to the woman.

His victims, who ranged from 30 to 83 years old, were shot, slashed, bludgeoned, and viciously mutilated. He took one lady’s eyes home as a trophy.

Fingerprints recovered from a murder victim’s stolen auto led police to Ramirez.

At trial, Ramirez indulged in bizarre antics, including inscribing a pentagram on the palm of his hand, making devil’s horns on his head with his fingers, and chanting, “Evil, evil, evil….”

When the Night Stalker was convicted of 13 murders and sentenced to death, he sneered at the judge and said, “Big deal. Death comes with the territory. See you in Disneyland.”

Ramirez insisted to a fellow inmate that he had actually killed 20 people.
